Your journey begins driving east from Reykjavik and towards Eyjafjallajokull glacier, the volcano that caused all the trouble spring 2010.  There we stop at Seljalandsfoss freefalling waterfall.  A short path leads behind the waterfall, where you can feel the spray and drizzle on your face and see it from an interesting perspective.

After Seljalandsfoss the road becomes a gravel road with un-bridged rivers we cross in our strong and reliable super-truck. It’s good fun splashing through the rivers and streams.

We drive close to the glacier, just below the top crater of Eyjafjallajokull. This is as close you can get to the famous volcano and the glacier outlet where the flood from the eruption washed out a glacier lagoon and changed the landscape forever. You can truly feel the forces of nature.

We continue further into the valley, surrounded by glaciers on 3 sides, with green valleys and elves and trolls in the steep mountains, rivers and streams in every canyon and very few people. It’s Iceland’s natural beauty in all it’s splendor which we can enjoy by taking a couple of hikes or short walks, all according to your needs and wishes.

One of the most popular walks is into Stakkholtsgja ravine to a hidden waterfall at the end of the canyon.

On the way back to Reykjavik we pass the town of Hveragerdi.  The town is built on a geothermal hot spot and many inhabitants make their living from greenhouse cultivation.

Back in Reykjavik your driver guide drops you off at your hotel or a restaurant of your choice.
